I know I said that I aspire to lead a pinterest-worthy life, but with our current living (and overall life) situation the way it is, and Olive's impending birthday falling too close in line with baby boy's debut, I decided to throw up my hands, quote a line from Bad Moms, and just kind of "go with it"....
We threw a small birthday party this past Saturday for O. We invited all of the friends she wanted (which was about... four kids) plus a few of our friends who also have kiddos. It was a super low-key thing that we held at a local playground that was about as old as Paul and myself.
The decor consisted of leftover baby shower ribbons that my mom had made, as well as pink flower and silver star balloons (that we got at the dollar tree!). We had little caesar's hot & ready pizza (double cut for the kiddos), cheese puffs from trader joes, bottles of water (also from the dollar tree), juice pouches, and watermelon slices.
What was for dessert you ask? Mini cupcakes from Hannaford.
I'd have taken pictures to prove the epic-ness of the entire thing, but I myself was late to the party.
Mom-guilt aside (though it's still residing a little bit) it was a really great party. Next time I would get twice as much food, and maybe take a few pictures, but overall, I was pleasantly surprised at how happy everyone was. Each kid brought home a balloon and some even managed to grab the ice cream bubble favors that were floating around.
I think I may do this again next year... potentially as a joint party for both of my babies (is that terrible?).
And next time - I promise that there'll be more food.
:)
